Visit the African Heritage House, built using unique blend of traditional African mud construction techniques. As soon as you enter the house, you will notice why it has been lauded by the media to become the most photographed house on the continent.
The house is owned and designed by the dedicated the co-founder of the African Heritage Pan African Galleries; Alan Donovan.
It has a collection of artwork and artifacts from around Africa that are displayed inside making your visit a way to learn about the native peoples of Africa.
There are original sculptures, tribal costumes, native arts and crafts, jewelry, beadworks, African fabric, musical instruments and hand-craft furniture. The 90 minutes tour of the house and grounds conducted by Alan Donovan immerses you in the rich history and traditions of Africa, all with the Nairobi National Park just outside your window. After the tour of the house you will enjoy the lunch served on the rooftop or by the refreshing pool.
After lunch you will visit Maasai Ostrich Resort is located on the Kitengela plains. The farm is made of beautiful gardens of mixed wild and exotic plants and a green manicured lawn which surround the large American style ranch house.
Here you will meet the two types of ostrich; Maasai and Somali who also give a ride with assistance by the attendants. The two types of ostriches are differentiated by the colour of their legs and necks; the Maasai ostrich has red thighs while those of the Somali counterpart is blue.
The tour of the farm takes almost half an hour depending on how inquisitive you are to learn about animals and their different stages of growth and sizes.
On a good day, you will be able to spot a few animals like zebras, giraffes, antelopes and even buffaloes at the Kitengela Conservation Area. The farm also serves ostrich dishes that are paid directly depending on your choice of menu.
